Soluble Fibers:
Apples, apricots, barley, berries, grapefruit, nectarines, oat bran, oatmeal, oranges, peaches, tangerines.
These are fruits and items you might want to put into a shake or smoothie to lower your cholesterol. I am not going to recommend any specific concoction, but skim milk, Vanilla yogurt, tablespoons of Cinnamon depending on how big a shake you make are common ingredients.
Cinnamon having the effect of defeating pathogens.
* Caution if your overall Vitamin C (citrus fruits) and Calcium ( dairy) in a day both reach the 2-3 grams level for each, it is a recipe for a kidney stone.
These are cholesterol lowering vegetables:
Vegetables: Cabbage, carrots, celery, chickpeas, split peas, okra, peas, beans; pinto, kidney, navy, lima. Sweet potatoes, turnips, zucchini.
Soluble fiber means they digest and enter the bloodstream to lower cholesterol. This is not the same thing as Insoluble Fiber which is roughage.
Insoluble Fibers:
Bananas, broccoli, brown rice, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, corn, lentils, pasta, potatoes, spinach, wheat bran cereal, wheat germ, whole wheat bread, whole wheat crackers.
